Chocolate: The Exhibition
Royal Botanical Gardens 680 Plains Road West, Burlington

To celebrate Jenny’s birthday, we ventured back to the Royal Botanical Gardens to explore Chocolate: The Exhibition. This was the perfect way to celebrate with Jenny – the RBG was one of her favourite tour stops of ours, and who doesn’t love chocolate?! Our Honourary Tour Member and good friend Emily joined us for the day.

It felt like stepping into Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory… in a rainforest!
We wanted to eat everything in sight!
We took part in the scavenger hunt which took us to all parts of the exhibit in search of clues (cacao beans!) as we collected answers to a series of questions about chocolate.
Of course, many photo opportunities presented themselves along the way.
Looking at chocolate in a more contemporary era, including the history of candy companies and chocolate bars.
We were excited to find life-sized imitation chocolate and “chocolate” cushions!

We sampled a variety of chocolate – raw cacao beans, dark chocolate in its purest form, chocolate with coconut, some spicy chocolate that was infused with chili pepper, and drinking chocolate, all while listening to some engaging presentations about the history of chocolate and how it is made.
The scavenger hunt took us to the beautiful Mediterranean Gardens.
