Kristin and I fantasize about frozen treats more than the regular person, hence our creation of The Ice Cream Tour of 2016.
I have been an active member of the I Heart Hamilton team for a year now, so we needed to celebrate, ice cream style. Word on the sunny streets of The Hammer was there was a new place for frozen goodies and in addition, caffeine. Tucked under Locke Street Audio and down a few steps sits AMO Gelato.
Over the course of our catch up and taste testing our fabu gelato, we discussed and loosely debated the actual pronunciation of AMO Gelato, (a-mo, am-e-o, amo); turns out you just say it as you see it (duh).
I mowed down on a mixture of pineapple and mango ice, while Kristin had coconut and salted caramel. Not only does AMO carry delicious gelato, they also have coffee, and since it’s summer, they have the necessary, iced coffee. They also have a selection of tasty baked goods.
The décor of AMO is something to be seen. White walls decorated with cacti and luminescent lights. Along with ‘50s beach portraits, and red accented chairs, making the space more open and airy feeling.
It was another successful stop along our ice cream tour – more to come!
