In Spring 2021, I was happy to be invited on the Starting Out podcast with host Nick Durie! Released every Wednesday, the show features conversations with comedians, musicians, entrepreneurs, athletes, and more about what it was like to begin. I connected with that concept right away and love hearing about other people’s journeys. So often we don’t even realize in the moment how one event will lead to another. Only when looking back do we connect those dots. That’s how I always feel when thinking back on over a decade now of I Heart Hamilton.
Nick Durie is awesome – I first met him in 2016 when I dug into exploring Hamilton’s comedy scene. Although he is now based in Toronto, Nick first got his start in comedy in Hamilton. Through many of the guests on this podcast, like David Brennan, Mike Mitchell, Patrick Coppolino, Michael Moses, Clifford Myers, Gavin Stephens, Devin Bateson, Manolis Zontanos, Jordan Scherer, Anthony Mlekuz, Mayce Galoni, Tyler Shazma, and Luther Griggs, it ends up being a great oral history of Hamilton’s comedy scene. Plus, of course, great conversation every time.
