Winterfest

By Kristin Archer

The 37th annual Winterfest kicked off this past weekend with a launch at the Waterfront. The festival continues through until Family Day (the 16th) with lots of events and activities throughout the city.

I chatted with Jen Anisef of Tourism Hamilton on 93.3 CFMU about the history of this winter festival and learn about some of the programming. There’s a lot to see and do – check out the full rundown of events on Tourism Hamilton.

Any chance to hit the Waterfront, I’m there. It’s one of my favourite spots in the city and I braved the elements to attend the Winterfest launch. There was live music, art, food, and even a fashion show. It was awesome to see so many families and kids spending the day outdoors.

In the evening, the Mixtape Fashion Show rolled out onto the ice and featured local shops Girl on the Wing, The Eye of Faith, Hawk & Sparrow, O’s Clothes, La Bichette, and local designer Volver. The show was emceed by DJ Donna Lovejoy and each shop chose a different local song for their models to strut to.
